Power of Attorney for Care of a Minor Child

The power of attorney for child care is one of the easiest, simplest documents you could ever create. It simply appoints someone you trust to step in and play that role for you just in case you’re not available.

If you have minor children and for whatever reason, you’re not available to be that parent maybe just for a few hours, might be for a week or a weekend, perhaps you’re just going away on vacation, or perhaps someone needs to enroll them in school this fall. Someone has to have the authority to do that. If you are not available maybe you’re just stuck in traffic for a few hours and someone needs to pick them up at school. Well, they don’t have the legal authority to do that or to care for your child unless you give it to them.

The power of attorney for child care is one of the easiest, simplest documents you could ever create. It simply appoints someone you trust to step in and play that role for you just in case you’re not available. It’s great also for vacations. If you’re taking a weekend off and you want to leave someone in charge of your children they need that authority. A lot of people think that by naming a guardian in their will that this is already taken care of not so the will only kicks in if we die so we have to have a separate document that appoints someone we trust to care for our children just like you in the event that you’re just not available.
